Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is relishing the prospect of seeing his side beat former manager, Maurizio Sarri’s new Juventus outfit next season.
The Serie A champions appointed Sarri on a three-year contract earlier this week after agreeing a compensation fee with Chelsea and the 60-year-old replaces Massimiliano Allegri, who stepped down at the end of the season.
Sarri coached Juventus’ rivals Napoli between 2015 and 2018 and nearly broke their stranglehold on the league in his final season. The Naples side ran Juventus close in the title race before falling four points short.
And his former chief De Laurentiis is looking forward to a reunion with Sarri, though he hopes his current manager Carlo Ancelotti secures bragging rights over his former boss.
“Sarri is a man of the stadium, the curve, someone who’s liked by the fans,” he told Tutto Napoli.
“Ancelotti, on the other hand, is a company man. It’ll be even better to see Ancelotti beat Juve on the pitch.
“Sarri is always in tracksuits, he shouts and curses. I’d like to see how he adapts to the style of his new team, but it’ll be even better to see Ancelotti beat Juve on the pitch.
“After that, what the Napoli fans, who consider Sarri to be only a great traitor, say?”
Meanwhile, new Juventus head coach Sarri believes his season under the media spotlight at Chelsea has made him stronger for the challenges ahead in Turin.
