Since Uganda first discovered its first case of Ebola on Tuesday from a 5-year old boy, the country has recorded a total of 3 cases. The little boy’s grandmother and 3-year-old brother were also diagnosed with the virus and have now been isolated.
The boy was infected after making contact with the virus in DRC which he crossed over from through the Bwera border on June 11. The Ugandan health minister has announced that the boy’s family who have been quarantined as suspected cases will be repartraited along with the infected family members after a meeting with Congolese counterpart in Kasese on consent.
The Ebola virus can be spread by coming in contact with bodily fluids of someone infected with the virus.
Symptoms range from hemorrhagic fever to diarhoea and even bleeding.
Eastern Congo since August has recorded 2,062 infections of the virus with 1,390 losing their lives to the virus.
