Four-time Tour de France champion, Chris Froome is out of this year’s edition after suffering a suspected broken femur during the Criterium du Dauphine.

Froome, while having a practice race at high speed in the downhill section of the course, crashed into a wall, with his injuries deemed very serious.

His crash happened before stage four of the race on Wednesday and he has been taken to the hospital, where further scans will reveal the extent of the injury.

The Team Ineos cyclist was eighth in the overall classification, 24 seconds behind race leader Dylan Teuns, after three stages of the eight-day race.
