French Open champion, Rafael Nadal has disclosed he will not play any tune-up events ahead of Wimbledon as he looks to rest after a successful clay season saw him capture the twelfth crown at Roland Garros.
The Spaniard comfortably saw off the challenge of Austrian fourth seed, Dominic Thiem in four sets, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 in the final to win his 18th slam title.
The 33-year old won at the All England Club in 2008 and 2010 and will hope his French Open triumph propels him to a third Wimbledon title, as he looks to close in on Roger Federer’s record 20 slam titles.
The 2019 Wimbledon Championships will begin on the 1st of July, with Novak Djokovic and Angelique Kerber looking to defend their titles.
