Italian motor racing team, Ferrari have launched an appeal against the five-second penalty given to team driver, Sebastian Vettel after the Canadian Grand Prix.
The German was penalized for rejoining the circuit in a manner deemed unsafe as Lewis Hamilton was forced off the track.
The five-second penalty cost Vettel his victory as Lewis Hamilton of the Mercedes team got upgraded from second place to first.
The win is Hamilton’s fifth in seven races this season and his seventh at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
The controversial win extends Lewis Hamilton’s lead at the top of the driver’s standings to 29 points ahead of second placed teammate, Valtteri Bottas and 62 points ahead of rival, Sebastian Vettel.
