Italian tennis maverick, Fabio Fognini is the oldest player in history to break into the top 10 for the first time since the ATP rankings were introduced in 1973.
The 32-year-old has been on tour for over a decade and despite the obvious talent he has, his temperament has gotten the better of him most times.
However, Fognini seems to be enjoying a career revival this season, having defeated Rafael Nadal en route his maiden Masters 1000 title in Monte Carlo.
Fabio Fognini has won nine ATP singles titles and the 2015 Australian Open doubles title with countryman Simone Bolleli.
He is the first Italian to be ranked among the world’s top 10 players since Adriano Panatta did forty years ago.
Karen Khachanov, a quarter-finalist in Paris, also cracked the top 10 for the first time, rising two spots to No 9.
The top eight ranked players in men’s tennis remained the same after the French Open, with Karen Khachanov, a quarterfinalist at Roland Garros ranked 9th while three-time slam champion, Stanislas Wawrinka moved up to 19th following an injury-plagued two seasons.
