Bayelsa state Governor, Seriake Dickson, has dissolved the 5th state House of Assembly following the expiration of its tenure.
Dickson in a ceremony to dissolve the assembly on Monday at the assembly’s quarters, Yenagoa commended the Speaker of the House, Kombowei Benson, other leaders and members of the legislature for their collaboration.
He said the success story of his restoration government was because of the massive support the executive arm got from the legislature.
The governor, who dwelt extensively on the achievements and development strides initiated by his administration, said they had brought the evolution of a new Bayelsa.
He insisted that history would be kind to the lawmakers adding that many landmark achievements in the state would not be remembered without recalling the roles played by members of the 5th Assembly.
He said: “The collaborative work between the executive and the legislative members of the 5th Assembly has yielded great success. I am here on behalf of the government in the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood, peace and stability to appreciate you all for your hard work and contributions in the last four years.
“A lot of our landmark achievement is as a result of your massive support. We couldn’t have done it if not for your support. The house has always agreed with us in all our ideas to building a new Bayelsa. The job of rebuilding and repositioning of our state is in the process and we must achieve it.
“The 6th Assembly has a very big shoe to wear because the shoes that the current members are leaving are very large and challenging but they can succeed through proper guide and leadership”.
