Below are pictures showing the decorated venue which will host the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari who will be sworn-in for a second term tomorrow May 29, 2019.
President Buhari got re-elected after he defeated the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2019 presidential election.
Though the ceremony holding tomorrow will be a low-key event, the presidency revealed that the elaborate edition of the inaugural ceremony will hold on June 12 which was declared as the new Democracy Day by President Buhari last year.
According to a Senior Special Assistant to the president, Shehu Garba, Nigeria wants the world to see June 12 as its most important day.
“We want the world to see June 12 as this country’s most important (day) as far as democracy is concerned,” he said.
He added:
“Let me say emphatically, it is important that the President and the governors are being inaugurated on the 29th. Constitutionally, that must take place because their four-year term (2015-2019), expires on the 29th. However, the President will be swearing an oath, taking the oath of office as would the governors be doing, but the big ceremonies associated with the inauguration have been deferred to June 12, in order that we empower, we activate this day in a big way”.
