Xavi now head coach of Qatari club

Former Barcelona midfield maestro, Xavi Hernandez has been appointed the head coach of the Qatari football club, Al Sadd.

The 39-year old retired at the end of the just concluded season, after playing over a hundred matches for Al Sadd within his three-year stay.

The former Spanish international had a trophy-laden career which includes, a World Cup title in 2010, eight La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies with Barcelona.

Xavi will replace Jesualdo Ferreira as Al Sadd’s coach and has stated his football philosophy will reflect the possessive-attacking style of Barcelona’s famed academy, La Masia which was influenced by Johan Cryuff.
