World number 5, Angelique Kayba suffered a shock first-round exit on the opening day of the French Open.
The three-time grand slam champion, who has been nursing an ankle injury over the past few weeks, was beaten in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 by Russian teenager, Anastasia Potapova.
The loss means Kayba has now crashed out at the first-round stage in three of the last four French Open editions.
Elsewhere, 2016 French Open women’s champion, Garbine Muguruza came from a set down to beat American Taylor Townsend 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.
The Spaniard recovered from a slow start to cruise through the next 2 sets as she booked her place in the second round.
