The Federal Ministry of Science and Technology is to partner Plateau State Polytechnic on practical local contents for teaching that would enable graduates of the Polytechnic with the technological capabilities to drive the economy.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Bitrus Bako Nabasu, disclosed this when the Rector and the management of the Polytechnic paid him a courtesy call on 22nd May 2019 in Abuja.
Mr. Nabasu decried a situation where parents are reluctant to send their children to Polytechnic adding that HND holders are better equipped for future challeges because of the industrial attachment they undergo.
Mr. Nabasa said the Ministry will soon provide science kits to polytechnic and monotechnics while Raw Material Research and Development Council (RMRDC) will provide the local content raw materials to aid learning process for students to have the right technical skills.
He promised to attend the Polytechnic conference coming up on July, 2019in Jos.
Earlier, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Builder John Dawam said that they came to seek for collaboration in areas of reseach and development that will enable them train students with the right enterprrnueral skills.
He also used the platform to invite the Permanent Sectary to their forthcoming conference with the theme “The role of science and Technology in sustainable development”.
The Polytechnic also intends to establish linkages with the various sectors of technology to enhance research and development.
