Wole Soyinka advises the Government to Consider Obasanjo's Statement

Noble Laureate Prof Wole Soyinka yesterday urged the Federal Government to consider former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s comments on rising insecurity in the country and the alleged Africa Fulanisation and Islamisation.

He said the issues raised by Obasanjo should be taken seriously, and not dismissed.

The former president had said Boko Haram and herdsmen’s acts of violence were not treated as they should at the beginning and that they have both incubated and developed beyond what Nigeria can handle alone. They are now combined and internationalised with ISIS in control.

Speaking on Wednesday in Lagos at the Africa Day 2019 organised by United Bank for Africa (UBA), Soyinka caution the government against dismissing Obasanjo’s advice.

Soyinka noted that the country is going through “horrendous descent into the abyss” and that the people on the street are interested in having their problems solved.
