Undisputed world cruiserweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk has withdrawn from his heavyweight debut fight against Carlos Takam due to injury.
According to Egis Klimas, the Ukrainian’s manager, Usyk suffered a torn right biceps during a training session which has forced him out of the May 25 bout against Takam at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
Oleksandr Usyk holds all four world cruiserweight belts following a successful title defence against now-retired Tony Bellew but has since moved up to the heavyweight category.
The 32-year old won the 2012 Olympic heavyweight gold medal and his professional record stands at 16 wins from as many fights with 12 knockouts.
