Members of the Nigerian Labour Congress have bombarded Chris Ngige’s residence this morning over the removal of Frank Kokori as the Board Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).
Chris Ngige, the Labour Minister had earlier refused to inaugurate the NSITF Board, an activity which he delayed for quite some time and when he finally did, he visibly omitted Frank Kokori’s name as Board Chairman relaying a replacement had been approved by President Buhari.
Frank Kokori had earlier been named by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo about two years back as the NSITF board Chairman.
Ngige’s actions have suggested an attempt to sideline Frank Kokori and the NLC Chairman Ayuba Wabba has accused Ngige of coveting the Chairman Position and as such wishes to be the sole administrator of the NSITF.
The Police have currently dispersed the protesters in front of the Ministers residence. NUPENG members at the scene have also declared two of thier members missing due to the mayhem and vow to embark on a nationwide strike if not found.
