Wikileaks Founder, Julian Assange has been sentenced to exactly 50 weeks in prison for ignoring a British Court order and taking asylum in Ecuador’s London embassy.
Assange was initially arrested on the 11th of April after Ecuador relieved him of his Asylum status for some reasons shared at the time.
Assange sought asylum with the embassy in 2012 to avoid getting extradited to Sweden over sexual assault and rape charges.
Assange is also facing legal battles in the United States where charges may be pressed for releasing classified information via his website WikiLeaks by conspiring with former U.S Army Intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning according to a released U.S Indictment Statement.
