A church in Mozambique has become a place of refuge to over 1,000 individuals of different faiths after the latest cyclone that has swept through the country.

The Roman Catholic Church located in Pemba City is situated in Mozambique’s northernmost province. The 41-year old priest in charge, Father Filipe Rosa Marques attests to not asking about peoples religion and the act is only to preserve human life.

As this point, 41 deaths have been recorded since the landfall on Thursday last week. More rains are still expected according to a United Nations Aid Analysis.
