Barry Hearn, chairman of Matchroom Sport has disclosed that Anthony Joshua’s next opponent will be confirmed on Tuesday for his US debut.
Joshua, the WBA super, WBO, IBF and IBO world heavyweight champion was due to face Jarrell Miller in his US debut but Miller was ruled out following failed drug tests.
The British unified heavyweight champion has since been on the search for a new opponent, with Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Boxing boss holding talks with a number of potential opponents and the wait now seems to be over.
Eddie Hearn is expected to announce the next challenger for Joshua’s scheduled title defence at Madison Square Garden in New York on June 1, with Anthony Joshua making the final call on who he faces next.
Boxers such as Andy Ruiz Jr, Michael Hunter, Adam Kownacki and Trevor Bryan have been mooted as possible opponents.
