President Muhammadu Buhari can govern the country from anywhere in the world so long as his absence is for a short period and does not need to inform the National Assembly.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, who made the assertion in response to an enquiry on his visit to the UK, further referenced Section 145 (1)(2) of the 1999 Constitution to make a defence for Buhari.
According to him, Buhari was still exercising authority as the President while in the UK since his absence would be for 10 days and not up to 21 days which would then have constituted a breach of the constitution.
The President left the country on Thursday, last week on what the presidency described as a private visit.
