Sainsbury and ASDA have decided to halt their proposed £13 Billion merger which the two believed would have paid off for customers.
The Merger was officially blocked by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on grounds that the merger would result in higher prices, and since the merger would have greatly spiked their competitive advantage, the CMA concluded that the merger would indeed result in a reduced quality of shopping experience for UK shoppers.
Both Companies have expressed their dissatisfaction on the decision made by the CMA and have resigned to position themselves as a strong UK retailer, according to ASDA sources
