Ramaphosa condoles as heavy rains kill more than 50 in South Africa

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has sympathized with the communities affected by the recent flooding and mudslide in the country.

The incident which started last weekend claimed the lives of at least 51 people, as the heavy rains left the southern and eastern part of the nation in bad shape.

“Our hearts go out particularly to families and communities who have been directly affected by death, injury and the loss of property,” Ramaphosa said in a statement after returning from crisis talks in Egypt on the situations in Libya and Sudan.

“This situation calls on all of us to pull together as a country to reach out to affected communities.”

Taking a look at the severe damage by the flood, a lot of buildings were seen to have collapsed. Also, sewer lines got blocked and electricity pylons toppled over.
