African leaders have called for an “immediate and unconditional halt” to the fighting in Libya.
The decision was taken at the African leaders meeting in Cairo on Tuesday, hosted by Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Al-Sisi said the leaders should develop a coherent regional response to the crisis in Libya, before it all slides into a chaos that can’t be contained.
All parties were urged to act with restraint and to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.
