Fabio Fognini rises to 12th in world rankings

Fabio Fognini has risen to a career-high 12th on the world rankings following his impressive victory at the Monte Carlo Masters.

The 31-year old Italian backed up his impressive victory over Rafael Nadal in the semis, by defeating Dusan Lajovic 6-3, 6-4 in the Monte Carlo Masters final.

Fognini received medical treatment for a right foot and right thigh injury in the second set. The injury, however, did not impede his performance, as he served out the match.

The victory at Monte Carlo is his first Masters title and his ninth ATP title and sees him move up 6 places on the rankings while finalist, Dusan Lajovic climbs 24 places in the rankings to a career-high 24th in the world.
