Liverpool face a tough task to overcome Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals.
Former star Xabi Alonso has told the club’s website he is confident the Reds can win.
Barcelona boast the world’s best player in Lionel Messi and have a fearsome attack even beyond the Argentine.
Liverpool’s is formidable too with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino one of the most dangerous attacks in Europe.
Alonso believes the experience Liverpool had last season in the semi-final against Roma will give them an edge.
He said, when asked if Liverpool could win the tie: “Yes, they can, because they reached the final last year so now they know how it feels to be there. But we will see.
“It’s going to be a great, great semi-final to watch and [I’m] really looking forward to it.”
It has been a while since Barcelona got to the final of the competition, knocked out last season at the quarter-finals by Roma.
This time around they beat Manchester United easily to reach the last four.
While they don’t lack experience, with players like Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets winning the competition numerous times, Liverpool’s is more recent at this stage, and that means they will hold no fear of the occasion.
