Anthony Joshua remains on course to defend his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles in New York despite an “adverse finding” in a drug-testing sample for Jarrell Miller putting the June fight in jeopardy.

The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA), had informed both camps of the results that came from a test on March 20, in which there was an adverse finding for GW1516, a metabolic modulator also known as cardarine and endurobol.

Miller is expected to face a hearing before the New York State Athletic Commission, when it will be determined whether he can fight at Madison Square Garden and give Joshua’s his debut in the United States.

However, the champion will continue to prepare regardless, with alternative opponents being considered.

Joshua’s promoters Matchroom have long been preparing to build his profile in the US boxing market, to the extent that the fight location – which they remain committed to – and Brooklyn’s Miller had been selected specifically to maximise its appeal.

The importance of furthering Joshua’s reputation, therefore means they remain determined to honour the June 1 fight at the same venue instead of considering a postponement or change of location.
