Following his failure to appear in court to answer to the charge of tax evasion leveled against him, a Lagos High Court sitting in the Igbosere has renewed its bench warrant for the arrest of former Super Eagles captain, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha.
The former footballer was slammed by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice in a three-count charge bordering on failure to furnish return of income as well as tax evasion.
After several adjournments without Jay Jay Okocha appearing in court, the prosecutor urged the court to issue a bench warrant, which Justice Adedayo Akintoye issued on the 29th of January 2019 and adjourned the case till 19th of February.
However, the prosecution failed to effect the arrest, hence Justice Adedayo Akintoye renewed the order of arrest on for Okocha’s alleged failure to settle his income tax.
