Pope Francis has yesterday during a Vatican Retreat with South Sudan’s President and Riek Machar, the former Rebel Leader done the unexpected to drive his message of Peace home.
Many were stunned as the 82-year-old knelt with difficulty to kiss the feet of the two opposition leaders and many others in the room to plead for peace to reign.
The pope was there for the two leaders and three other vice presidents to uphold an armistice they signed to form a unity government next month.
The Vatican brought together the South Sudanese Leaders for 24 hours of prayer and preaching in an attempt to quell the divisions between the opposing leaders
His message was simple; read below
Peace is possible. I shall never tire of repeating this: peace is possible! Yet this great gift of God is at the same time a supreme duty on the part of those with responsibility for the people”
