Almost 40 years after Richard Coley was tried and sentenced to prison for the murder of his Ex-Girlfriend and Son, new findings have proven otherwise.
Life took a downward turn for Coley when his Ex-Girlfriend and Son were discovered dead in a gruesome murder right in their homes in Simi Valley.
Although the duo were not actively dating, things such as keys to her property was found in his possession which led law enforcers to believe that Coley was as an angry Ex who carried out gruesome actions against his former Girlfriend.
This led to Colin being sentenced to life imprisonment. Many of his acquaintancesnever believed Colin was capable of the murder and continued o support him by signing petitions advocating for his innocence.
Fortunately for Coley, his case was re-examined by a detective Michael Bender who brought to light the oversight of the initial investigation. He was able to prove Colen’s innocence after close to 3 decades of investigation by a DNA evidence that proved otherwise.
Coley was compensated for everyday he spent in jail, a cumulative of $1.9 million by the Carlifornia Victim Compensation Board and he was also supported by the Simi Valley who agreed to another sum of $21 million to be paid to him for depriving him for the past 39 years in Jail.
