Dallas Maverick’s All-Star, Dirk Nowitzki has announced his retirement from the NBA after scoring a season-high 30 points against the Phoenix Suns in his home finale.
The 41-year old had widely been expected to retire at the end of the season and he confirmed it after the match on tuesday, thereby bringing an end to his 21-year career in the NBA.
The German, a seven-footer is a 14-time All-Star and the sixth leading scorer in the NBA history.
Dirk Nowitzki, who holds the record for the most NBA season played – 21, won the NBA regular season MVP award in 2007 and the NBA Finals MVP in 2011 when he steered the Mavs to its lone championship.
