The Federal Government has declared a state of public health concern on maternal, newborn and child deaths occurring at primary healthcare centres and community levels.
The Executive Secretary of the national primary healthcare development agency, Dr Faisal Shuaib while speaking to a cross-section of stakeholders in Abuja says that the Federal Government regrets the current high rate of maternal mortality in the country and admits current efforts have been unable to reverse the trend.
Dr Shuaib also revealed that a National Coordination centre within the National Primary healthcare centre has been established to provide oversight for the control and prevention of these deaths.
