Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South has vowed not to step down in the race for the Senate presidency. His major contender is Senator Ahmed Lawan representing Yobe North.

Ndume made the declaration on Monday after having a meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in the State House.

Albeit he declined questions from the state house correspondents concerning rescinding his ambition, the senator made it clear that he was still consulting.

“Me? Step down? I’m consulting.”

Despite the endorsement of Ahmed Lawan by the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ndume forged ahead to declare his intention to run for the Senate presidency.

As the race for the 9th Senate in Nigeria gets hotter, the Senator appears to be gathering support across the party.
