The federal retirees under the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (Federal Branch, Lagos State) have decried the hardship they are subjected to, due to the non- payment of their pensions.
Some retirees lamented that despite participating in the verification exercise conducted by the Pension Transitional Arrangement directorate by the office in charge of the federal pensioners, they had yet to be placed on the payroll.
A retiree from the Federal Civil Service, Michael Abajo, who said he retired in 2006 and did verification in 2017, said he was yet to be paid his monthly arrears or placed on the payroll,” he said.
Mr. Arashi Lawal, the acting Chairman, NUP (Federal Branch, Lagos State), has also decried the marginalization of some federal civil service pensioners.
Lawal decried the fact that a lot of their members were dying as they could not afford to fend for their basic welfare and medical bills.
