The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has issued a directive to travel agents in Zimbabwe stating that all remittances would only be accepted in the U.S. dollar.

The world governing trade association for airlines made this statement as it became increasingly difficult to switch from bond note-denominated payments to U.S. dollar payment.
Lack of foreign currency in the country has also impeded the payment of $18million by Ethiopian airlines in Zimbabwe.
The IATA issued a circular stating it can no longer accept the use of direct debit for remittance.
