The United Nations have reported that of half the 1.7 Million people that have been affected by Cyclone Idai in the southern part of Africa, about half of those have been identified as children.

Whilst the official record of deaths in the region has risen to 700, it is projected that the number is still to increase once the floods subside.

The Zimbabwean Government has appealed to the International Community for relief items as many victims are still stuck in the water whilst others are hanging on rooftops for survival.

International Organizations such as the Red Cross and Red Crescent have confirmed incidents of Cholera in some parts of Mozambique and predicts an outbreak in Malaria and other infectious diseases if the conditions prevail.
