Benue APC rejects Ortom’s victory, heads to Tribunal

The Benue chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has rejected the outcome of the Governorship election declared on Sunday, in favour of Gov. Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement signed by Prof. Eugene Aliegba, Secretary Jime/Ode Campaign Organisation, on Sunday in Makurdi that the results did not reflect the wishes of the people.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday declared Ortom winner of both the governorship and supplementary polls conducted on March 9 and March 23, to determine the Benue Governor.

Ortom polled four hundred and thirty-four thousand, four hundred and seventy-three votes to defeat his closest rival, Emmanuel Jime of the APC, who polled three hundred and forty-five thousand, one hundred and fifty-five votes.

The statement declared the outcome of the poll “totally unacceptable to the APC”.
