Botswana is set to provide breakfast meals at the pre-primary and primary government-owned schools.

The decision was taken by the government on Monday, with a recommendation to align the menu of the primary schools with that of the secondary schools.

The recommended menu will provide nutrients to promote optimal health for the children, as well as cater to nutritional deficiencies.

The breakfast meal distribution is set to take effect from the 1st of April, where pupils will be served in school.

While some citizens praise the government for this development, others took to social media to call out the government for using this as a gimmick to solicit support ahead of the elections coming up in October.
