PDP candidate, Makinde wins Oyo gubernatorial election

The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the yesterday’s election conducted in all the 33 local government areas of Oyo state, Engineer Seyi Makinde has been declared as the winner of the election.

Makinde in the election won in twenty-eight (28) local government areas out of the thirty-three (33) local government areas of the state.

Makinde who voted at unit 1, ward 11 in Ibadan North East Local government area on Saturday had earlier delivered his polling unit and local government area for PDP.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos who doubled as the collation officer of the gubernatorial election, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe while declaring the results, declared that Makinde of PDP secured a total of 515, 621 votes to defeat APC candidate, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu who scored a total of 357,982 votes.

The results indicated that Makinde defeated Adelabu with a total of 157,639 votes.

ADC secured 12,375 votes while ADP secured a total of 8664 votes.

Ogundipe announced that the total registered voters stood at 2,934,107.
