Power sector Records ₦69.1 Billion loss between Jan – Feb

Data obtained from the Advisory Power Team in the Office of the Vice President on Wednesday revealed that the nation’s power sector lost ₦69.1 Billion between January 1 and February 19 this year.

The recorded loss can be attributed to the persistent challenges in the powersector such as insufficient gas supply to power generation plants as well as inadequate distribution and transmission infrastructure.

A total of two thousand,three hundred and thirty-two point nine-five megawatts of electricity was not generated due to the unavailability of gas on February 19, 2019.

Also, thirty-two point five megawatt of power was not generated due to unavailability of transmission infrastructure, while five hundred and forty-three megawatt  was not generated due to high frequency.
