Steve Stricker named US captain

The United States Ryder Cup team have named Steve Stricker as its new captain for the 2020 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits.

The 51-year old was a vice-captain to Jim Furyk last year as the US suffered a humiliating 17 and a half to 10 and a half points loss to Europe.

As a player, Steve Stricker won the 2008 Ryder Cup while he was on the losing side of those of 2010 and 2012.

Stricker, a former world number two, captained the US team to victory in the 2017 President’s Cup and will square up against Padraig Harrington, who was earlier chosen as Europe’s captain.
