The essence of leadership is for service to humanity and Nigerians should ensure they vote for candidates with interest to serve the people ahead of the elections.
This message was given by Nigeria’s former President, Goodluck Jonathan while interacting with some youth leaders from the Niger Delta region of the country in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Recent happenings in the country, ranging from insecurity, politics, and the postponement of the general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have been creating tension in the country.
In view of these happenings, Jonathan, while interacting with some youth leaders from the Niger Delta region, said the only way the country will develop is to build peace, urging the people to ensure they cast their votes for candidates who have the interest of the masses at heart.
He also condemned the spate of extrajudicial killings ongoing in the country, charging all security services to work in the interest of building the image of the nation.
The former President also wants the youths to be equal partners in peacebuilding and development of the country, adding that the future of Nigeria lies with them.
