Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Babatunde Fowler, has said he is optimistic the FIRS will exceed the ₦5.3tn revenue generated in 2018.
During a chat with finance journalists in Abuja, Mr. Fowler said the service had embarked on a series of reforms aimed at making it easier for taxpayers to pay their taxes but however emphasised that although huge revenue could be generated from oil, it was unsustainable due to the volatile nature of the crude oil prices.
He added that as a result of the dwindling oil revenue, the FIRS was working hard in ensuring taxes were collected and remitted for the benefits of the nation.
