The Supreme Court has vetoed Trump’s administration to start barring transgender people from serving in the armed forces.
Transgender troops began serving in 2016 after Former President Obama succeeded in lifting a restriction which Trump’s administration has just effectively clamped down on.
A 2018 Pentagon report attributed unnecessary challenges, fraying unit cohesion and threatening good order to having transgender troops.
With an estimated 1,320 to 6,630 transgender people serving in the U.S Military as at 2016 according to Rand, and with over 9000 people who have identified as being transgender, it is unclear still what this spells out for transgender people who are currently serving in the army.
