Senator Dino Melaye has been granted bail by a High court of the FCT in Maitama, Abuja.
The senator would now be able to go attend to his health challenges, after which he would be required to stand the hanging trial by the Nigerian Police Force.
Justice Yusuf Halilu granted the bail application to Dino Melaye’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), on health grounds as he was of the viewpoint that Dino Melaye should be in good health in order to stand trial.
However, Justice Yusuf Halilu granted the bail application on three conditions: he asked Ozekhome to produce three sureties, with one being a clerk of the National Assembly, who must undertake to produce him for trial when confirmed fit and healthy while the other two must be owners of properties in Abuja.
