Following a 1 nil defeat to Bahrain which knocked India out of the Asian Cup, Stephen Constantine, the head coach of India has resigned from his role.

India needed a draw to progress to the knockout stage and looked on course to achieve that but an injury-time goal from the penalty spot allowed Bahrain leapfrog them into third place.

During his stint as coach, India was able to break into the top 100 in FIFA rankings for the first time ever. Constantine also helped India qualify for the Asian Cup for the first time after an eight-year absence.
