Tennis match-fixing investigation: Spain arrests 15 people

An ongoing investigation into a tennis match-fixing scandal by an Armenian criminal gang has seen 15 people arrested.

Spain’s Civil Guard has revealed that 83 people have been implicated in the scandal, including 28 players from the ITF Futures and Challenger tours.

Although none of those investigated has been named, it has been revealed that one of the players embroiled in the scandal, competed in the 2018 US Open.

The European Union’s police agency, Europol have searched 11 houses in Spain, with 167,000 euros in cash seized alongside a shotgun.

The agency also seized credit cards, five luxury vehicles, over 50 electronic devices and documents related to the case.
