At least three people have died and four are still missing after heavy snow hit Austria over the weekend, local media reported on Tuesday.
The authorities warned of more snow to come and issued avalanche alerts in large swathes of the country.
Up to 1.5 metres of snow has fallen in the north of the country over the past several days with up to three metres of snow in the mountains around Salzburg, meteorological services said.
Many roads remain impassable due to snow and fallen trees while several thousand households in Upper and Lower Austria were without electricity due to severed power lines.
Thousands, including tourists, were cut off in villages in Styria and a number of ski resorts were closed in Lower Austria.
