INEC kicks against dissolution of PDP EXCO

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it has not created more polling units and voting points for the 2019 elections.

Chairman of the Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, said this in Abuja, at the quarterly consultative meetings with media executives, political correspondents, and Civil Society Organizations.

The INEC has been meeting with various interest groups, directly linked to the conduct of the elections.

It is the regular quarterly meeting with members of the fourth estate of the realm.

The INEC Chairman gave the details of the Commission’s level of preparedness for the general elections.

He clarified what he called some wrong notions about the workings of the commission.

First, he spoke on the issue of recapturing failed finger prints at the polling units during elections.

Professor Yakubu also cleared the air on the electronic transmission of results, which he said is possible, as it has no legal backing as well as the creation of new polling units.

At the end of his remarks, he was assured by the media of their support, before, during, and after the elections.

The Commission had earlier met with Civil Society Organizations and will be meeting with the inter-consultative committee on elections security on Wednesday.
