Dino Melaye siege: Court refuse request to order police officers out of lawmaker’s residence

Judge, N. E. Maha presiding in the Federal High Court in Abuja has refused a request by senator Dino Melaye, for police officers to vacate his residence and desist from further attempts at arresting him.

The requests were presented as ex-parte applications after Mr Melaye asked the court for enforcement of his fundamental rights by stopping the Police Officers currently laying siege at his residence, to desist from what he describes as “acting in a manner that threatens his life”

An ex-parte application could have allowed the judge to grant the order without hearing from the police but in a ruling on the ex-parte application on Thursday, Judge Maha, refused the application, but ruled that the substantive matter be granted accelerated hearing.

Senator Dino Melaye is already facing two separate charges of attempted suicide and allegedly arming criminal suspects.
