Manchester United have confirmed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as its caretaker manager until the end of the season.
He takes over from Jose Mourinho who was sacked yesterday. Solskaer will be joined by former Manchester United’s assistant coach, Mike Phelan who worked with Sir Alex Ferguson, while Kieran McKenna and Michael Carrick who worked as part of Mourinho’s coaching staff will continue to work under Solskjaer.
His first match in charge will be against Cardiff City, a club he coached for eight months and got relegated with from the Premier League in 2014.
Solskjaer, an ex-United player spent 11 seasons at Old Trafford, scoring 126 goals, winning six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the UEFA Champions League title during his stint with the club.
