AFCON 2019: Host to be decided on January 9 – CAF President

The president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ahmad Ahmad has confirmed that the host nation for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations will be announced after a meeting of CAF’s executive committee on the 9th of January, 2019.

South Africa and Congo Brazzaville are among the potential hosts for the tournament, with the deadline for submission of hosting intent slated for 14th December 2018. 

Cameroon were due to host the tourney from the 15th of June to the 13th of July but were withdrawn as host due to delays with preparations and security concerns.

Ahmad also confirmed that Cameroon has agreed to host the 2021 AFCON which was to be hosted by Ivory Coast while the Ivorians are yet to confirm if they will host that of 2023.
