Football officiating: Bobby Madley to restart career in Norway

Former Premier League referee, Bobby Madley is set to resume his officiating career in Norwegian football.

The 32-year old was sacked by the Premier League in the summer following his social media antics, which involved using the picture of a disabled man to send an inappropriate message.

His contract got terminated by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), the body in charge of officials in the Premier League.

Madley said: “I would love to referee in Eliteserien (Norway’s top-flight) at some point, but I have to work hard and prove I am trustworthy first. It’s only fair”.

Terje Hauge, the supervisor for Norwegian referees has revealed that there are plans to have Madley become a Norwegian official before the start of the 2019 season in March, though Eliteserien has not decided about it yet.

Madley, however, confirmed his impending switch by saying, “My preparation has already started.” While in the Premier League, Madley took charge of officiating in 91 matches and was at the center for the 2017 Community Shield at Wembley.
